Step inside a storybook fortress 🏰

Walk double walls, climb towers, and look out across vineyards to the Pyrenees — Carcassonne is medieval grandeur brought to life.

Explore the Cité — Carcassonne’s medieval heart

Within these legendary walls, time slows to the pace of footsteps on stone.

The Cité de Carcassonne is a rare, perfectly preserved fortified city: stout towers, crenellated ramparts, and the Château Comtal at its core.

Entrance to the walled city is free; paid entry gives you access to the castle and rampart walkways — the best views and the most immersive storytelling.

Set aside time to wander, linger in sunlit courtyards, and watch dusk paint the fortress gold.

🛡️.
